An employee began to unlock the front gate of the facility, where EE received a 1/2"" laceration to palm while retrieving the locking mechanism/chain from a nearby rock. The injury did not involve any issues related to equipment, skills or miner proficiency, training, protective clothing or devices, or aspects of regulatory compliance.
