Employee was removing a center beam in the 8 south section from a shuttle car when the beam fell striking EE's hand causing a laceration to EE's left thumb. Cause of injury was awareness. Compliance with rules/regs, PPE, mining equip/systems not a factor. Miner proficiency may be a factor.
