Employee was in the Step 3 elevator when it stopped unexpectedly, trapping person in the elevator. Employee used the phone to call for help. MEI Elevator was called. MSHA was notified of the incident in a timely manner. MSHA returned a call asking to be notified when person was out of elevator. Notified MSHA that person was released at 12:12pm. MSHA returned second call @ 12:32 pm
