The contract miner was part of a team lapping conveyor belt. During this process a sheave wheel came free from a wire rope and contacted the contractor's left hand. The following did not directly affect the occurrence: rules and regs., mining equipment, skills, proficiency, protective clothing or equipment. Attitude may have been a factor.
