Abnormal accumulation of pulverized coal under the mill table for an unusual length of time led to coal self ignition and smoldering inside the mill. Incident happened during the cleanup process when fine coal got displaced and suspended by the rotation of the mill table and ignite when in contact with the smoldering coal.
