The employee was helping to repair a broken miner chain and while the employee was observing an employee trying to free the foot shaft from Gob, rock & a piece of broken miner flight. The jammed rock was hit with a hammer & during the process, a piece 1.5""x 3"" flew up & struck the employee on the right corner of upper lip, causing a laceration that required 5 sutures to close.
