While cleaning No. 9 entry on No. 1 section, employee peeled up a large floor rock measuring approximately 38"" wide x 40"" long x 6"" thick. The rock flipped up and partially entered the operators deck striking employee on the side of the head. Resulted in a laceration of EE's ear requiring surgery.
