Employee walked into #8 shield as it was being pulled in and it pushed employee's right leg into the pan, causing a sprain/strain injury. The audible and visual alarms were functioning properly on the shield. Compliance with rules/regs, PPE, mining equip/systems not a factor. Miner proficiency may be a factor.
