Employee was working in the pit at the longwall teardown and while digging out the bottom to construct a crib by the walker shields, a rock fell from the top and struck the employee on the left foot. Compliance with rules/regs, PPE, mining equip/systems not a factor. Miner proficiency may be a factor.
