## Abstract

This interim rule sets forth the regulations for the Lamb Meat Adjustment Assistance Program as authorized by clause (3) of section 32 of the Act of August 24, 1935, as amended. Producers of sheep and lambs may receive up to $30 million total, with a target of $10 million per year, in direct cash payments to help improve their production efficiencies and the marketability of lamb meat during the 3 year period from July 22, 1999, through July 31, 2002. This action is designed to provide immediate financial assistance to sheep and lamb producers who have recently experienced low prices and poor market conditions.
