## Abstract

We are amending the regulations by adding the fluorescence polarization assay to the lists of confirmatory and official tests for determining the brucellosis disease status of test-eligible cattle, bison, and swine. This action is warranted because the fluorescence polarization assay has been shown to provide an efficient, accurate, automated, and cost-effective means of determining the brucellosis status of test eligible cattle, bison, and swine. Adding the fluorescence polarization assay to the lists of confirmatory and official tests for brucellosis in cattle, bison, and swine will help to prevent the spread of brucellosis by making available an additional tool for its diagnosis in those animals.
