Abstract
Pursuant to the Pork Promotion, Research, and Consumer Information Act of 1985 (Act) and the Pork Promotion, Research, and Consumer Information Order (Order) thereunder, this final rule increases the rate of assessment of 0.35 percent of market value of porcine animals to 0.45 percent; and adjusts the amount of assessment per pound due on imported pork and pork products to reflect the assessment rate increase of 0.10 percent and the decrease in the 1994 average price for domestic barrows and gilts. The assessment increase and the adjustment in assessments on imported pork and pork products will increase annual funding of the promotion, research, and consumer information program by an estimated $10 million to $12 million over a 12-month period.
