Abstract

We are amending the brucellosis regulations to remove the requirement that an approved brucella vaccine be, among other things, a Brucella abortus Strain 19 product. This change allows for the use of vaccines that have been developed using strains of Brucella other than Brucella abortus Strain 19. Specifically, this action allows the RB51 brucella vaccine, which was licensed for use in cattle by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in February 1996, to be used in the cooperative State/Federal brucellosis eradication program.
