## Abstract

This interim rule amends the Child and Adult Care Food Program regulations governing reimbursement for meals served in family or group day care homes by incorporating provisions of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. Specifically, this rule establishes a two-tiered reimbursement rate structure for day care homes. Under this structure, the level of reimbursement for meals served to enrolled children will be determined by economic need based on: the location of the day care home; the income of the day care provider; or the income of individual children's households. In addition, this rule makes a minor amendment to the National School Lunch Program regulations to facilitate the provision of elementary school data on free and reduced price eligibility determinations to sponsors of family day care homes. These revisions are intended to target higher CACFP reimbursements to low-income providers and children.
