Abstract

The Department of Agriculture (Department) is adopting, as a final rule, with a few corrections, the provisions of an interim final rule revising the handling and reporting requirements for California nectarines and peaches by modifying the grade, size, maturity, and container requirements for fresh shipments of these fruits, during the 1998 season shipments. This rule continues in effect the modification of requirements for placement of Federal-State Inspection Service lot stamps, as well as the establishment of a single due date for handlers' shipment reports. This rule enables handlers to continue shipping fresh nectarines and peaches meeting consumer needs in the interest of producers, handlers, and consumers of these fruits. This rule also continues in effect the correction of the address of the California Tree Fruit Agreement.
