Common Crop Insurance Regulations; Basic Provisions

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) amends the Common Crop Insurance Policy; Basic Provisions for the purpose of: Clarifying certain provisions; adding definitions and provisions to allow enterprise and whole farm units; allowing the use of a written agreement to insure acreage that has not been planted and harvested in one of the three previous crop years; removing the requirement that a minimum amount of prevented planting acreage be contiguous before a prevented planting payment can be made; and removing the requirement that the Palmer Drought Severity Index be used to determine eligibility for a prevented planting payment in certain circumstances. The intended effect of this action is to create a policy that best meets the needs of the insured.
