On 05.02.2021, I was driving our CAR in Philadelphia, and stopped at red light. When I started driving in heavy stop and go traffic knowing I had to stop in 200 ft. brakes failed, brake pedal went to the floor and the car accelerated, emergency brakes didnât start and Forward collision warning didnât work. I hit the car in front of me. My car was totaled, more cars were damaged. Two months before this accident I was driving on a crowded Philadelphia city street and when I put on the brakes exactly the same thing happened - brakes failed, car accelerated, emergency braking didnât function, Forward collision warning didnât work. I drove the car to the edge of sidewalk to stop it. Nobody got hurt but the front of the car was damaged. I took it to Honda to investigate the brake failure. First the dealer said they checked and there was nothing wrong we can take to car. Later Honda America told the dealer, the car is not safe and we canât get it back until they send an expert to check. After the expert, service people at the dealership said the car was OK. The problem could be an unsecured floor mat that interfered with the brakes and that is why brakes failed. We asked why the emergence brakes didnât work. They said âwhen you pushed the brake the computer has a message that brakes are pushed and emergency brakes donât come on functioningâ.
