Narrative

The contact owns a 2008 Mercury Milan. The contact stated while driving 15 mph and approaching a traffic light, when depressing the brake pedal to the floor but failed to stop. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he crashed into the curb and bent the front passenger side rim which blew out the tire causing the vehicle to be able to come to a stop. The contact stated the vehicle came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated he sustained injuries on both knees and his chest. The contact did not seek medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The contacts uncle towed the vehicle to the uncle's residence. The contact was able to replace both front driver and passenger tires, the front passenger side rim, and the motor mount. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact, later on, received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) and 21V158000 (AIR BAGS), however, the part to the recall was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 169,000.
