The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle would stall and jerk upon the depression of the accelerator as the FCM and check engine warning lights would illuminate the instrument. The contact stated that he would be forced to pull over and restart the vehicle to resume normal driving. The contact also stated that while at a stop, the vehicle stalled as he depresses the accelerator to the floorboard. Due to the failure, another vehicle rear-ended him at a low rate of speed. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. No injuries were reported and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was able to drive away from the scene; however, the vehicle had sustained rear-end damage. The dealer was notified of the failure and was informed to bring in the vehicle for an inspection. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. Consumer stated transmission gets stuck in eighth gear. Vehicle stopped in the middle of the freeway had to put it in park and restart to move, happened dozen of times.
