My 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid was having an issue where several warning lights would light up on the dashboard, so I took it in to Auburn Honda, located at 1801 Grass Valley Hwy, Auburn, CA 95603, to get the car serviced under warranty. They made the necessary repair, which was the replacement of a battery component and I picked up the car on 2/2/21. After about 45 minutes of driving the car with no stops immediately after picking up the car, the warning lights returned and the car suddenly shut off. When I tried to restart the car, smoke billowed from the rear. Shortly thereafter, the entire car was engulfed in flames. This incident occurred more than a year ago and ever since I have been trying to get the proper individual or individuals to accept responsibility for this incredibly dangerous and costly incident, for which we have still received NO compensation. My insurance provider, Atlantic Casualty, and Auburn Honda's insurance provider, Federated Insurance, both sent out fire inspectors of their own accord and they concluded that the battery malfunctioning caused the fire. At this time, the car was at Auburn Honda and the inspection was conducted there. My most recent step and what has led me to file this complaint is that I made a claim months ago with American Honda Motor Corporation on the advice of Auburn Honda to find a resolution to this incident. They have been uncooperative and refuse to accept that the fire was caused by the battery. After the car was moved
