The contact owned a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, the driver lost control of the steering and drove off the road, down an embankment, and crashed at the bottom of a steep hill. During the crash, the vehicle was destroyed and severe damage to the front end occurred but the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained a concussion and head laceration, fractured femur, injured lung, and whiplash. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The contact indicated that the air bag system was previously serviced under an unknown NHTSA recall.
