The contact's son owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while her son was driving 60-65 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering. The ABS, traction control, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle decelerated to 30 MPH and stalled while driving on an uphill ramp. The vehicle failed to restart, causing another vehicle to strike the driver's side of the vehicle. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was pushed downhill with the assistance of a police patrol. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine was blown and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the thermostat, radiator, starter, and motor mounts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.
