## Narrative
The touchpad membrane panel (Part# DE34-00045W/DE34-00190L) on Samsung microwave (MR1031WB) malfunctions. The first issue noticed was the touch pad sometimes wouldn't respond to touches, but other times would. The incident occurred on a morning when the touchpad wouldn't respond to touches, which led me to simply give up and go back to bed, leaving the plastic bowl containing dry oatmeal mixed with water inside the cavity. The touchpad malfunction occurred by setting a cook time event and starting itself without any user interaction while I slept. Unit is available for inspection. Photos attached. Our safety was in danger when the cook time was set for such a long time that the plastic bowl and it's contents became disintegrated and vaporized, filling the cabin with dense, yellowish-oily smoke, from ceiling to waist level, and eventually ignited in fire inside the microwave cavity, destroying the inside and eventually tripping the circuit. I woke up only after this event and struggled to exit the vehicle, choking and burning eyes and mucus membranes.  Microwave was part of recall campaign #03E04400 and 04-E-031. Manufacturer has confirmed the issue. Made contact with manufacturer and they offered me a $50 settlement.  Attempted to make another contact with Samsung, Oct 20, this time demanding to file a claim of loss, stating that I wanted a replacement unit and $50 wouldn't cover the cost to replace this specially made unit designed only for RVs.
