However, a month later, the vehicle failed to start. The contact's husband replaced the battery. The vehicle restarted; however, the message "FEB Malfunction" was displayed and an unknown warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle alarm engaged intermittently. The contact stated that her husband had started the vehicle to warm it up and as he was walking towards the vehicle, he smelled a burning plastic odor. The contact's husband then sat in the driver's seat and saw smoke coming from the footwell. The contact's husband then saw flames and immediately exited the vehicle. The contact stated that her husband extinguished the fire with a cloth and snow. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle remained in the parking spot. The contact stated that the recall remedy failed to resolve the issue. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.
