The contact owned a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the husband was idling behind a bus, a second vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into the rear end of the vehicle. The impact of the rear-end crash pushed the vehicle into the rear of the bus causing severe damage to the vehicle's front end. During the crash, the air bags did not deploy and the seatbelts on both the driver's and front passenger's side had malfunctioned and did not properly secure the occupants. The driver sustained bruising of the chest and torso. The front passenger sustained a head injury. No medical treatment was immediately required. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed to a local service center. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted.
