The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 15 MPH at night on a road construction site, the vehicle's front end suddenly declined on a 10 ft deep road surface. The contact stated that she immediately depressed the brake pedal; however, the front driver's side seat belt failed to restrain her as needed, and she hit her head against the steering wheel. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The contact sustained a concussion and two black eyes but did not receive medical assistance. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The contact then drove the vehicle to the residence. The contact stated that the failure occurred due to the seat belt D-ring wear. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the front driver's side seat belt assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.
