The contact owns a 2024 Dorsey Flatbed attached to a 1996 Peterbilt 379. The contact stated that the slack adjusters on the flatbed would intermittently fail to operate as needed. While one of the contact's truck drivers was driving the trailer at a moderate rate of speed, the slack adjusters failed to operate as the driver attempted to exit the highway onto a rest stop. As a result, the driver of the trailer drove into a ditch to avoid hitting another trailer. A police report was not filed. The driver did not seek any medical attention as a result of the crash. A fence was damaged as a result of the crash. The trailer was pulled out of the ditch by a tow truck and was left at a rest stop. The manufacturer of the slack adjusters was notified of the failure but took no responsibility for the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
