Vehicle should have automatic emergency braking safety feature when vehicle is driving in âReverseâ. I made a very careless and dangerous mistake because I was in a rush and placed my vehicle in âReverseâ instead of âParkâ, immediately after parking on the street in front of my friendâs house. Not realizing the vehicle was in reverse, I quickly opened the driverâs side door and placed my left foot on the street as I was getting out. Suddenly, the moving vehicle and opened driverâs side door knocked me down on the street and continued to drive in reverse crushing my body. The vehicle should have stopped the moment it hit something or before it hit something. Instead, the vehicle smashed me against the pavement, rolled right over me, and then continued in reverse at a rapid speed. At the same time, my friend was getting out of the front passenger side and was almost pinned against a telephone pole that the opened passenger side door hit, but thankfully she got out of the way just in time. The car, however, continued running in reverse. Another friend had to run down the street and literally jump in the driverâs side to quickly place his foot on the brakes. I was still laying injured on the street in agony, and sustained multiple injuries.
