The contact stated that the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V266000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) was previously performed on the vehicle. The contact stated while the driver was driving 55-60 MPH uphill, he noticed smoke coming from underneath the driver's side of the hood. The contact stated that the driver depressed the brake pedal several times, but the brake pedal went down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. The driver veered to the side of the road and allowed the vehicle to roll to a stop. The messages "Engine Power Reduced" and "Service Emission System" were displayed. The driver exited the vehicle and noticed that there was fire coming from underneath the driver's side of the hood, by the firewall. The driver attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher but was unable to. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A fire department report and a police report were not filed. The driver did not sustain any injuries. The contact stated that the vehicle burned to the ground from the front end to the cabin of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the fire had extended to the flatbed. The vehicle was towed to the company's location. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
