As a result, the contact briefly lost control of the vehicle, coming to a complete stop after colliding with a pole that pierced through the vehicle and protruded out from the center console. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact observed flames emanating from the engine compartment. Local fire services were not called, as the fire had dissipated on its own. The air bags did deploy, but the contact stated that the left curtain side air bag failed to fully deploy, resulting in injury. No warning lights were illuminated.
