Narrative

The contact owned a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 25 MPH, there was smoke emerging from the vehicle. The driver was able to pull over, and the vehicle caught fire. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no reported injuries, crash or airbag deployment. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. A police report was filed. The fire department was on the scene to extinguish the fire. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The dealer informed the contact the vehicle was safe to drive as long as the engine warning light was not illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.Parts distribution disconnect.
