We purchased a juicebox charger in 2019 and it worked fine until April 2024. We noticed the breaker was tripping often & that the app provider had changed. We updated the app and reduced the default kw setting in the app to half the amount which seemed to resolve the issue of the breaker tripping. In the last month we noticed the breaker tripping a few times. On Nov 8, we smelled smoke from the outlet after the car was charging for 45 minutes. The plug and outlet were hot so we turned off the breaker, unplugged the plug and could see sparks inside the outlet start a small flame. We were able to put out the flame with an extinguisher. Afterwards, I saw an article that there were other users who had issues with fire/breakers tripping with their juicebox, so I wanted to make sure I reported our issue. There was no police report, but we did call the fire department to verify the fire didnât spread and was out.
