The contact stated stated while parked and pulling out of a parking lot, the automatic braking system slammed on the brakes abruptly while there was a pedestrian 25 feet away from the vehicle. The contact stated that she sustained whiplash. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle and shifting to reverse(R), the alarms sounded, and the vehicle failed to respond because there was another vehicle parked nearby. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, where the failure could not be duplicated; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and a case was opened. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where a Toyota field inspector performed a full inspection of the vehicle several months ago; however, the contact had not been informed of the cause of the failure. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the field inspector's diagnostic report was not available. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The contact stated that she was suffering from Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the vehicle failure had been affecting the contact's mental health significantly.
