Vehicle was brought to Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston on 6/16/2025 because Tailgate would not open with the button and only would open with the fob. They stated no parts to fix and did not advise of the severity of risk from the recall when picked truck up. Saturday afternoon [XXX] while leaving a parking lot and driving on the feeder road the tailgate opened resulting in the large ice chest that was full of water bottles ice and and storage containers with food to fall on road along with battery power fan and several extra batteries. These items unexpectedly sliding down the feeder resulted in several cars making defensive maneuvers nearly resulting in several crashes and the ice chest bumping 1 vehicle. All lanes of traffic stopped and several people helped to pick up the debris off the road. No information from people who stopped was collected, and no report from driver of truck that hit cooler.
