Narrative

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 MPH, as he was slowing to exit a highway, he observed that a warning "low power mode" had illuminated on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled at the same time the warning illuminated. As a result of the loss of power, the contact crashed into the passenger side of the vehicle and side-swiped a guard rail. The contact stated that the police were not called, and he was not injured. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who diagnosed that the passenger side front tire and passenger rear tire needed to have the rotors replaced. The contact stated that there were scrapes along the bottom door panels on the passenger side. The contact stated that the dealer did not address why the vehicle had stalled and quoted him for repairing the wheels. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notice of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) a month before the crash. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
