For the Extreme Heat Watch below 4000 feet, dangerously hot\nconditions possible below 4000 feet, with daytime temperatures\nranging from 98 degrees at Havasupai Gardens, to 113 degrees at\nPhantom Ranch.\n\n* WHERE...Lower elevations of the Grand Canyon.\n\n* WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM MST Wednesday. For\nthe Extreme Heat Watch, from Wednesday evening through Saturday\nevening.\n\n* IMPACTS...Most individuals will be at risk for heat-related\nillnesses without effective cooling or adequate hydration,\nespecially with prolonged outdoor exposure.\n\n## Instructions\nThis warning is reserved for only the hottest days of the year and is\nissued when temperatures are expected to rise to dangerous levels.\n\nDay hikers on Bright Angel Trail should descend no farther than 1 1/2\nmiles from the upper trailhead. Between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM,\nhikers should be out of the canyon or at Havasupai Gardens or Bright\nAngel campgrounds, physical activity is discouraged. All hikers\nshould have adequate gear, including a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen,\nsalty snacks, sufficient water, and electrolyte mix.
