Some showers and\nthunderstorms will be capable of rain rates of 2-3 inches per hour,\nwhich could cause isolated flooding, especially in urban areas or\nareas that recently received heavy rainfall.\n\nAtmospheric conditions are very favorable for high rainfall rates as\nprecipitable water values have been observed just under 2 inches\nwith forecasted values near or exceeding 2 inches by later today.\nDespite the favorability for heavy rainfall, most of northern\nIllinois is experiencing drought conditions with low rivers and low\nsoil moisture. Due to dry conditions, higher rainfall rates will be\nrequired for flooding, making the scope of possible flooding more\nisolated. Locations with the highest chance of ponding and localized\nflooding due to heavy rainfall are urban areas or areas that\nreceived heavy rainfall over the last few days, including isolated\nportions of La Salle, Livingston, Ford, Iroquois, Kankakee, and Will\ncounties.\n\nThis outlook means that elevated water levels and potential impacts\nare possible, but not yet certain. Persons should closely monitor\nthe latest forecasts.\n\nNo updates to this outlook product are currently scheduled."}
