Tropical storm force wind gusts of 40 to\n50 mph have been observed at times along the immediate coast and\nadditional tropical storm force gusts along the immediate coast are\npossible over the next few hours.\n\nTide gauges in Pensacola Bay indicate that storm surge inundation of\naround 2 ft is occurring, which will result in minor flooding issues\nin typically flood prone areas. Similar minor coastal flooding remains\npossible in coastal Alabama and Mobile Bay this morning. Another round\nof minor coastal flooding is also possible during high tide Thursday\nmorning due to the persistent and strong onshore flow in the wake of\nBertha.\n\nDangerous surf and beach conditions continue. A high risk of deadly\nrip currents is in effect through Thursday night. A High Surf Warning\nremains in effect due to surf of 8 to 11 feet along the Gulf beaches.\nThese large breaking waves will result in minor beach erosion, along\nwith flooding of vulnerable areas of the west end of Dauphin Island,\nthe Ft. Pickens area, and portions of Highway 399 between Pensacola\nBeach and Navarre in the Gulf Islands National Seashore.\n\nPOTENTIAL IMPACTS\n-----------------\n\n* SURGE:\nPotential impacts from the main surge event are now unfolding across\ncoastal Alabama and northwest Florida. Remain well away from locally hazardous\nsurge having limited impacts. If realized, these impacts include:\n- Localized inundation with storm surge flooding mainly along\nimmediate shorelines and in low-lying spots, or in areas\nfarther inland near where higher surge waters move ashore.\n- Sections of near-shore roads and parking lots become overspread\nwith surge water. Driving conditions dangerous in places where\nsurge water covers the road.\n- Moderate beach erosion. Heavy surf also breaching dunes, mainly\nin usually vulnerable locations. Strong rip currents.\n- Minor to locally moderate damage to marinas, docks, boardwalks,\nand piers. A few small craft broken away from moorings.\n\nElsewhere across portions of southwest Alabama...northwest\nFlorida...south central Alabama...and inland southeast Mississippi.,\nlittle to no impact is anticipated.\n\n* OTHER COASTAL HAZARDS:\nDangerous surf and beach conditions are expected. A high risk of deadly\nrip currents continues through much of the week. Surf of 8-11 feet will\ncontinue today.\n\n* WIND:\n. Remain well sheltered from hazardous wind having limited impacts. If realized,\nthese impacts include:\n- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored\nmobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.\n- Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or\nuprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are\nshallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over.\n- A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban\nor heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on\nbridges and other elevated roadways.\n- Scattered power and communications outages.\n\nElsewhere across portions of southwest Alabama...northwest\nFlorida...south central Alabama...and inland southeast Mississippi.,\nlittle to no impact is anticipated.\n\n\nPRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS\n----------------------------------\n\n* EVACUATIONS:\nFollow the advice of local officials.\n\n* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:\nClosely monitor weather.gov, NOAA Weather radio or local news outlets\nfor official storm information.
