Pollutants are expected to be in the Unhealthy\nfor Sensitive Groups range in the south to Unhealthy in the north.\nHourly concentrations may reach Very Unhealthy to Hazardous at\ntimes, especially north.\n\nThis is a Statewide Air Quality Alert.\n\nPlumes of smoke from Canadian wildfires will move through the region\nthis week. The plumes have reached the upper peninsula and northern\nlower peninsula, and will continue sinking through the southern\nlower peninsula to the Michigan/Indiana border this evening.\n\nIt is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor\nactivities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory\nconditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing,\ncoughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in nose, throat, and\neyes. You can help reduce air pollution by limiting activities, such\nas outdoor burning and use of residential wood burning devices.\n\nTips for households: Keep windows closed overnight to prevent\nsmoke from getting indoors and, if possible, run central air\nconditioning with MERV-13 or higher rated filters.\n\nFor up to date air quality data for Michigan, visit the MiAir\nsite: https://michigan.gov/MiAir\n\nFor up to date air quality data nationally, visit see EPA's Air\nNow site: https://www.airnow.gov\n\nFor further health information, please see MDHHS' Wildfire Smoke\nand Your Health site at\nhttps://www.michigan.gov/mdhhs/safety-injury-prev/environmental-\nhealth/your-health-and-wildfire-smoke"}
