The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has\nindicated a potential eruption window between today, July 15 and\nJuly 16. Fountaining episodes typically last less than 12 hours\nbut ash can remain in the air longer depending on wind and\nweather.\n\nIMPACTS...If an eruption occurs, varying levels of ash, Pele's\nhair, and other lightweight tephra may fall downwind of the\neruption. Smaller particles can travel farther from the eruption\nsite and may affect communities at greater distances. Low level\nwinds will carry any tephra to the west or southwest of the\nsummit. If the eruption is strong enough to loft tephra above the\ntrade wind inversion, tephra may be carried to the north or\nnorthwest.\n\n## Instructions\nIf you live downwind of the Kilauea summit, or plan to visit the\nsummit area, stay informed about current volcanic activity and\nweather conditions. Be prepared to take precautions if needed,\nsuch as disconnecting water catchment systems. Follow all guidance\nfrom the National Park Service and the County of Hawaii. Be aware\nthat road or park closures may occur.\n\nThis statement will be issued daily and updated as needed."}
