For the High Rip Current Risk,\ndangerous rip currents. For the Coastal Flood Warning, 2 1/2 to\n3 ft, locally 3 1/2 ft, of inundation above ground level\nexpected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.\nThe highest water levels are likely with the Saturday morning\nand possibly Sunday morning high tides.\n\n* WHERE...Southwest Suffolk and Southern Nassau Counties.\n\n* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Sunday. For\nthe High Rip Current Risk, through Sunday evening. For the\nCoastal Flood Warning, during the times of high tide until 6 PM\nEDT Sunday.\n\n* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Widespread moderate to major flooding of\nvulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. There is an\nelevated threat to low lying properties. Expect 2 1/2 to 3 ft,\nlocally 3 1/2 ft, of inundation above ground level in low lying,\nvulnerable areas. Flooding could extend inland from the\nwaterfront and shoreline into areas that typically don't\nexperience coastal flooding. Flooding will likely be exacerbated\nalong north facing shorelines from wave action, particularly for\nthe barrier island from Atlantic Beach, Long Beach to Jones\nBeach. This will result in numerous road closures and cause\nwidespread flooding of low lying property including parking\nlots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the\nwaterfront. Vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the\nwaterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding in the most\nvulnerable areas may not totally recede during the times of low\ntide.\n\n* SHOREFRONT/BEACH IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 6 to 10 ft along\nwith elevated water levels will result in widespread dune\nerosion and beach flooding. Localized overwashes are possible\nwhere dune structures are compromised, resulting in some\nflooding of roadways and vulnerable structures behind protective\ndunes. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized\nbeach erosion. Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all\npeople entering the surf zone. Anyone visiting the beaches\nshould stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the\nbest swimmers away from shore into deeper water.\n\n* ADDITIONAL DETAILS....Another round of moderate to major\ncoastal flooding is possible for the Sunday morning high tide\ncycle.\n\n## Instructions\nTake the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If\ntravel is required, do not drive around barricades or through\nwater of unknown depth.\n\nInexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to\ndangerous surf conditions.\n\nIf you enter the surf zone, always have a flotation device with\nyou and swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax\nand float, and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in\na direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face\nthe shore and yell or wave for help."}
