Impacts associated with\nthis system are still likely to remain focused close to the immediate\ncoast and offshore. A Storm Surge Watch is now in effect for the\nAlabama coast for storm surge heights of 2 to 4 feet during periods\nof high tide Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Storm surge values of 1\nto 3 feet are possible along the coast of the western Florida\npanhandle.\n\nWhile there are uncertainties in the ultimate track and intensity of\nthis system, dangerous surf and beach conditions are expected. A high\nrisk of deadly rip currents is in effect from tonight through much of\nthe week. Surf heights across the Gulf facing beaches could exceed 10\nfeet Tuesday night into Wednesday. Tropical storm force winds will be\npossible, primarily along the immediate coast, Tuesday into Wednesday.\nWhile most of the heavy rain is forecast to remain offshore, locally\nheavy rainfall is possible across the coastal counties in any outer\nbands that move ashore.\n\nPOTENTIAL IMPACTS\n-----------------\n\n* COASTAL HAZARDS:\nDangerous surf and beach conditions are expected. A high risk of deadly\nrip currents is forecast beginning tonight, persisting through much of\nthe week. Surf heights across the Gulf facing beaches could exceed 10\nfeet Tuesday night into Wednesday.\n\n* SURGE:\nPrepare for life-threatening surge having possible significant\nimpacts across coastal Alabama. Potential impacts in this area include:\n- Areas of inundation with storm surge flooding accentuated by\nwaves. Damage to several buildings, mainly near the coast.\n- Sections of near-shore escape routes and secondary roads become\nweakened or washed out, especially in usually vulnerable low\nspots.\n- Major beach erosion with heavy surf breaching dunes. Strong and\nnumerous rip currents.\n- Moderate damage to marinas, docks, boardwalks, and piers.\nSeveral small craft broken away from moorings, especially in\nunprotected anchorages.\n\nLimited impacts are possible along the coast of the western Florida\npanhandle.\n\n* WIND:\nPrepare for hazardous wind having possible limited impacts across\nimmediate coastal areas of Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle.\nPotential impacts in this area include:\n- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored\nmobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.\n- Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or\nuprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are\nshallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over.\n- A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban\nor heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on\nbridges and other elevated roadways.\n- Scattered power and communications outages.\n\nElsewhere across portions of southwest Alabama...northwest\nFlorida...south central Alabama...and inland southeast Mississippi,\nlittle to no impact is anticipated.\n\n* FLOODING RAIN:\nPrepare for locally hazardous rainfall flooding having possible\nlimited impacts across coastal Alabama and the northwest Florida\nPanhandle. Potential impacts include:\n- Localized rainfall flooding may prompt a few evacuations.\n- Rivers and tributaries may quickly rise with swifter currents.\nSmall streams, creeks, canals, and ditches may become swollen\nand overflow in spots.\n- Flood waters can enter a few structures, especially in usually\nvulnerable spots. A few places where rapid ponding of water\noccurs at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage\nareas. Several storm drains and retention ponds become\nnear-full and begin to overflow. Some brief road and bridge\nclosures.\n\nElsewhere across portions of southwest Alabama...northwest\nFlorida...south central Alabama...and inland southeast Mississippi,\nlittle to no impact is anticipated.\n\n* TORNADOES:\nLittle to no impacts are anticipated at this time across portions of\nsouthwest Alabama...northwest Florida...south central Alabama...and\ninland southeast Mississippi..\n\nPRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS\n----------------------------------\n\n* EVACUATIONS:\nFollow the advice of local officials.\n\n* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:\nNow is the time to check your emergency plan and emergency supplies\nkit and take necessary actions to protect your family and secure your\nhome or business.\n\nWhen making safety and preparedness decisions, do not focus on the\nexact forecast track since hazards such as flooding rain, damaging\nwind gusts, storm surge, and tornadoes extend well away from the\ncenter of the storm.\n\nIf you are a visitor, know the name of the county or parish in which\nyou are located and where it is relative to current watches and\nwarnings. If staying at a hotel, ask the management staff about their\nonsite disaster plan. Listen for evacuation orders, especially\npertaining to area visitors.\n\nClosely monitor weather.gov, NOAA Weather Radio and local news\noutlets for official storm information. Listen for possible changes\nto the forecast.\n\n* ADDITIONAL SOURCES OF INFORMATION:\n- For the latest detailed evacuation and shelter information...please\nrefer to your local emergency management agency at the phone number\nor website listed below.\n- Coastal Alabama:\n- Baldwin County: 251-972-6807 or\nwww.baldwincountyal.gov/departments/EMA\n- Mobile County: 251-460-8000 or mobilecountyema.gov\n- Northwest Florida:\n- Escambia County: 850-471-6400 or myescambia.com/beready\n- Santa Rosa County: 850-983-5360 www.santarosa.fl.gov/emergency\n- Okaloosa County: 850-651-7150 or myokaloosa.com/emergency-management\n- For information on appropriate preparations see ready.gov\n- For additional disaster preparedness information see redcross.org\n\nNEXT UPDATE\n-----------\n\nThe next local statement will be issued by the National Weather\nService in Mobile AL around 4 PM CDT, or sooner if conditions warrant."}
