The Air Quality Index\n(AQI) is expected to reach the Red or Unhealthy category.\n\n* WHERE...East central, central, west central, southeast, north\ncentral, and northwest Minnesota.\n\n* WHEN...Until 11 AM CDT Friday.\n\n* IMPACTS...Some members of the general public may experience health\neffects. Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease\n(including asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, may\nexperience health effects.\n\n* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very heavy smoke is expected across the\nArrowhead today, as large wildfires continue to spread. Hot\ntemperatures, when combined with the air pollution, will exacerbate\nhealth impacts. A frontal boundary will then spread heavy smoke\nfurther south this evening into Wednesday morning, as it moves across\nnorthern and central Minnesota. The onset of smoke will be rapid.\nThis boundary eventually passes through the Twin Cities and into\nsoutheastern Minnesota on Wednesday or Wednesday evening, bringing\nheavy smoke even further south. Additional rounds of heavy smoke are\npossible from Thursday through Friday morning across the alert area.\n\n## Instructions\nSensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including\nasthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, should avoid\nprolonged or heavy exertion. The general public should limit\nprolonged or heavy exertion. Reduce or eliminate activities that\ncontribute to air pollution, such as outdoor burning, and use of\nresidential wood burning devices. Reduce vehicle trips and vehicle\nidling as much as possible. Keep windows closed overnight to prevent\nsmoke from getting indoors."}
