Ponding of water in areas is\noccurring or is imminent.\n\n* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...\n- At 1252 PM AKDT, the river gauge at Bethel indicates water levels\nabove flood stage, at or above 8.5 ft. Additionally, reports out\nof the Lower Kuskokwim, including Napakiak, Napaskiak,\nOscarville, Bethel and Kwethluk, confirm flooding in low-lying\nareas. Water levels may drop with the outgoing tide this\n(Wednesday) afternoon, but are expected to rise again Thursday\nmorning with another high tide cycle.\n\nThese high water levels are a result of the Kuskokwim River\nback-up at its outlet in combination with heavy rain runoff\nfarther upstream. Minor flooding will continue from overflow of\npoor drainage areas. High tides will decrease later in the week,\nallowing the backwater of the Kuskokwim River to drain, lowering\nwater levels to below flood stage.\n- Elevated water levels have been slow to recede. They are expected\nto drop below flood level later this afternoon as the tide goes\nout.\n- For Kuskokwim River at Bethel:\nAt 11:51am the stage was 8.6 feet.\nFlood Stage is 8.5 feet.\n\nImpacts:\nAt 7.0 feet: Action and bankfull stage.\nAt 8.5 feet: Minor flood stage. Water starts to back up along Brown\nSlough and flood low lying areas.\n\n\n- Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood\n\n## Instructions\nStay tuned to further developments by listening to your local radio,\ntelevision, or NOAA Weather Radio for further information.\n\nBe especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the\ndangers of flooding.\n\nIf you live near or along the Kuskokwim River stay alert and be\nprepared to take action."}
