Some of these\ncirculations are occurring underneath showers and thunderstorms\nwhere a funnel cloud may develop.\n\nLow hanging clouds can also appear to dig up and down at times, but\nthey will not show signs of any rapid rotation. An actual funnel\ncloud will exhibit spinning in a counter-clockwise direction.\n\nIn rare occasions, these funnel clouds may briefly touch down. Stay\nalert and be prepared to move to a safe shelter if a funnel cloud\napproaches the ground. Report funnel clouds and possible tornado\noccurrences to the National Weather Service."}
