There are often exceptions for those who use wood\nexclusively to heat their homes and those with limited income.\n\nPeople can take the following precautions to protect their health:\n\n* Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air\nquality.\n* Avoid strenuous outdoor activity in smoky conditions.\n* People with heart or lung problems and young children are\nespecially vulnerable.
