Hourly concentrations at\ntimes may reach Very Unhealthy to Hazardous.\n\nThis is a Statewide Air Quality Alert.\n\nPlumes of smoke from Canadian wildfires will continue moving into\nthe region this week. The plumes as of Wednesday morning have\nreached the Upper Peninsula, and will continue sinking south,\nreaching the Michigan/Indiana border Wednesday evening.\n\nIt is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor\nactivities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory\nconditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including\nwheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the\nnose, throat, and eyes. You can help reduce air pollution by limiting\nactivities such as outdoor burning or use of residential wood\nburning devices.\n\nTips for households:\n\nKeep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke from getting indoors\nand, if possible, run central air conditioning with MERV-13 or\nhigher rated filters.\n\nFor up-to-date air quality data for Michigan, visit the MiAir site:\nMichigan.gov/MiAir\n\nFor fup-to-date air quality data nationally, visit EPA's Air Now\nsite: https://www.airnow.gov\n\nFor further health information, please see MDHHS' Wildfire Smoke and\nYour Health site at https://www.michigan.gov/mdhhs/safety-injury-\nprev/environmental-health/your-health-and-wildfire-smoke.\n\nAir Quality Alert\nMichigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy\nJuly 15 2026"}
