Afternoon temperatures 105 to\n118 degrees. Major Heat Risk.\n\n* WHERE...South central Arizona, including the Phoenix metropolitan\narea.\n\n* WHEN...Until 8 PM MST Monday.\n\n* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during\nextreme heat events. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat\nexhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat\nstroke.\n\n* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...In Maricopa County, Call 2-1-1 to find a free\ncooling center, transportation, water and more.\n\n## Instructions\nAn Extreme Heat Warning means that a period of very hot temperatures,\neven by local standards, will occur. Actions should be taken to\nlessen the impact of the extreme heat.\n\nTake extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When\npossible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or\nevening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat\nstroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and\ndrink plenty of water.\n\nTo reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and\nHealth Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in\nshaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat\nshould be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an\nemergency! Call 9 1 1.\n\nPublic cooling shelters are available in some areas.
