Fountaining episodes typically last less than 12 hours\nbut ash can remain in the air longer depending on wind and weather\nconditions. Winds will generally be variable through 20,000 ft in\nelevation today, causing tephra fallout to vary in location.\nTephra fall has lightened, but please remember fine ash and Pele's\nhair may continue for hours after the eruption stops.\n\n* WHERE...Big Island East and Big Island Southeast.\n\n* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening.\n\n* IMPACTS...The public will be affected by a limited hazard extent.\nVarying levels of tephra, including ash, Peles hair and other\nlightweight pumice may fall downwind of the eruption. These small\nparticles are eye and respiratory irritants, but will have low\nlevel impacts for most people.\n\n## Instructions\nLimit exposure to tephra, especially if you have respiratory\nsensitivities. Wear a mask, gloves, eye protection, and long\nclothing when clearing ashfall. Close windows and doors. Cover and\ndisconnect water catchment systems to protect your water supply."}
