For the High Surf Advisory,\nlarge breaking waves of 10 to 15 feet in the surf zone. For\nthe Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip currents, large\nbreaking waves expected, and strong longshore currents in the\nsurf zone.\n\n* WHERE...Northern Outer Banks.\n\n* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 11 AM EDT\nSaturday. For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Saturday.\nFor the Beach Hazards Statement, until 8 PM EDT this evening.\n\n* IMPACTS...Up to 1 to 3 feet of inundation above ground level\nis possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal\nwaterways resulting in a low threat of property damage. Dune\nstructure erosion is possible in vulnerable locations.\nDangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach\nerosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away\nfrom shore into deeper water. Dangerous shore break can throw\na swimmer or surfer head first into the bottom causing neck\nand back injuries. Strong longshore currents will create\ndangerous swimming conditions.\n\n* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The next high tide is around 7:15 PM. The\nmost likely time for strong rip currents to occur is a couple\nhours either side of low tide, which will occur around 1:10 PM\nFriday.\n\n## Instructions\nIf travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be\nclosed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of\nunknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone\nproperty.\n\nInexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to\ndangerous surf conditions.\n\nLife-threatening rip currents. If caught in a rip current, remain\ncalm. Swim in a direction following the shoreline. If tired,\nfloat or tread water until out of the rip current. If unable to\nescape, face the shore and call or wave for help.\n\nShore break occurs when waves break directly on the beach. It is\nextremely important to protect your head and neck whenever you\nare in breaking waves by keeping your hands in front of you at\nall times.\n\nStrong longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers into rip\ncurrents, piers, jetties and other hazardous areas. In many\ncases, the longshore current is strong enough to prevent swimmers\nfrom being able to keep their feet on the bottom making it\ndifficult to return to shore."}
